Building Community Safety
By fostering structured training environments, certified coaching, and positive role models, weightlifting becomes a powerful tool for community engagement, discipline, and youth development.

Educating the Educators
We invest in coaches, officials, and leaders through education and certification programs, ensuring safe, ethical, and effective development of the sport across the Caribbean.
Our Team
Our team is comprised of dedicated individuals who are committed to advancing weightlifting in the Caribbean. Each member brings a unique set of skills and expertise, contributing to the growth and development of weightlifting.
Our Sport
In the sport of weightlifting, which is governed by the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF), competitions are organised for men and women, and athletes compete in four age groups:
YOUTH: 13 - 17 years of age
JUNIOR: 15 - 20 years of age
SENIOR: 15+ years of age
MASTERS: 35+ years of age
There are also ten (10) separate bodyweight categories for Juniors, Senior Men and Women.
The Lifts
The International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) recognises two lifts which must be executed in the following sequence: The Snatch, and the Clean and Jerk. A maximum of three (3) attempts is allowed in each lift.
Snatch
The Snatch is a single, continuous movement where the barbell is lifted from the floor to overhead in one motion.
Clean & Jerk
The Clean and Jerk is a two-part lift performed in sequence, allowing the athlete to lift heavier weights.
-
The Clean is the first part of the Clean and Jerk. In this movement, the barbell is lifted from the floor, the athlete moves under the bar into a squat, and then stands up with the barbell supported in the front rack position across the shoulders.
-
The Jerk is the second part of the Clean and Jerk. From the front rack position on the shoulders, the athlete bends slightly at the knees and hips before driving the barbell powerfully upward. The athlete then moves under the bar to catch it with arms fully extended overhead, finishing in a stable standing position to complete the lift.
